OT- anyone else anxious about gift giving?

ugh. I hate giving presents. I get embarrassed/nervous watching people open them. I always think it's a great idea and I'm all excited about what I picked out, but then when it comes time to do it, I get anxious!

Am I the only one?

I bought my husband a laptop and a pair of jeans for his birthday (today). it's now 3:45 in the afternoon, and although we celebrated his birthday last night, and we've been together all day, I still haven't given him the "big gift". I did give him the jeans after he got out of the shower,and he was happy, but he was like "honey, you didn't have to get me anything, I didn't expect that!"

so now, even though I know he'll love the laptop, I feel like I overdid it and now I'm feeling foolish and can't work up the nerve to give it to him. What the hell is wrong with me? 1) I know he'll like it 2) it's not like we can't afford it, there is no reason NOT to give it to him 3) I still have an anxious feeling in my stomach.

who's with me? (or am i just a lonely pilgrim on this one?)

Give it to him!! He'll say "You shouldn't have," and you'll blush, and you'll be so glad you fooled him!!

I'm with you! I hate picking out gifts for people. Especially if I'm not sure if they will A) like the gift or already have whatever I got for them. But, just in general, there is always the fear that it will be not good enough, so I usually overbuy and then feel maxed out and, ultimately, kind of embarrased. Ug! Or I feel I should get something because that's what people do but I can't think of anything good.

I prefer spur of the moment type gift giving.

Do what I do.. give people stuff you intend to borrow.

I love giving gifts. I find it difficult not to tell them what they are though. I make them ask me for hints and try to guess what I got them.
