Moms of young ones... When do you find the time?

My daughter is 3 months old and just starting to get on a schedule. Every 2 hours, she sleeps for maybe an hour. After I exercise, I need to shower... do I wait the two hours to shower or is that completely gross and bad for your skin?
When do YOU find the time?

Unless you have to be out someplace before the next nap I say wait til the next one. I don't think it's really that big of a deal. Wipe down a bit if you really worked up a sweat to get through.0

Most gyms will allow babies 6 months and older into the kids club. SO, if you find a gym that works for you, you should have time to workout AND shower. My daughter is almost 3 now, and she LOVES the kids club at the gym.0

Why does she need to be sleeping for you to take a shower? Until mine learned to walk, I would just take them in the bathroom with me, and let them play in a bouncy seat or something. And when they were sitting up well on their own, I would even sometimes take them into the shower and let them play in the water. They liked it, and I got my shower without feeling rushed or having to worry about them.0

I have a 4 month old and she still isn't on the schedule. I put her on the play mat or in a swing if she is awake. I try to workout when she is sleeping but since I have a 4 year old also that can get tricky. If I need to wait a bit to take a shower then I do. To me its no big deal. I have to do it when I can.0

When my daughter was a baby and napping the same way I would jump in the shower and if she woke up, she woke up. It may sound like a terrible thing, but if she is in her crib or whatever, she's safe, just make it a quick shower, your little one will be fine, just remeber, mom's need their time aswell! But I also agree with Furrytreats, if you don't have to go anywhere, I'd wait!0

When my two kids were little, I did two things: placed them in their infant car seat (either asleep or awake), put them outside the shower (so they could see me/ hear my voice) and then shower away. If there truly wasn't time for that, I'd use facial wipes (no rinse) and take a shower later. My face just felt better. But I did change my underwear (being someone who has a tendency to get yeast infections, it does help to prevent). Some of your "regular" hygiene routines go out the window when you have kids. Hope that helps!0

I have a fussy baby, so unless she's infront of the TV (which only allow her to watch one show), she's fussing/crying. I've been able to shower with her awake one time and that was when she was a newborn and EVERYTHING was new. She knows the bathroom now and apparently doesn't like it, ha.
I guess it's not really a big deal to wait the two hours, I've just always been told not to sit in sweaty, hot, wet clothes.0 -
When my kids were little, I would take the 10-15 minutes for myself and shower. If the baby was up I made sure they were fed and dry, but after that I would take my shower if I needed it. I would put them in a baby seat right in the bathroom with some hanging toys to look at or a binkie or music. I would hop in the shower, and play peak a boo, or sing or talk to them, but I would take my shower. If they were crying, I would still take my shower. It is hard sometimes, but a little crying is not bad, and I always found that if I FELT GOOD, then things seemed easier. And my shower was always a priority, even if they were awake. I am a mom to 5 well adjusted kids, who still understand that they are not always the center of attention. They are 18, 16, 14, 11 and 4. I0

I agree with the moms that say take her in the bathroom with ya , awake or not, in her seat, fussy or not...she will get used to the schedule that you put her on. And her crying will diminish as she learns the routine. Catering to her fussiness will make you a very tired mommy and your baby an insecure child for not knowing boundaries.Yup...it starts that early...3 children later..I would change some things I did. It is important for your baby to have a well rested, healthy and happy mommy...you both deserve it! Unless she has some realy physical issues causing the fussiness, you could do the excercise 1st nap and shower 2nd nap...won't hurt to have that sweat on you for awhile, its kinda a nice reminder that ya just worked your booty off!0

Does she like music? Maybe you could turn on some music for her, or get her a musical toy. My daughter had one of those crib toys that looks like a piano and the baby kicks the keys and it plays music -- maybe your daughter would like that? And I always thought I'd be the parent who never used tv, but I learned that sometimes it really does help for mama's sanity. So, if you allow her one show a day, could that be when you take your shower? Put the baby monitor in the living room where she is and take the receiver in the bathroom with you, and just shower. Or do you have a baby swing? My son loved the swing, so it really helped when they were both little and I couldn't coordinate their sleep schedules. I'd put him in the swing for a bit and do what I needed to do.
And if all else fails, just change your clothes until you can shower. Maybe towel off and put your pajamas back on until you can shower? It's better than sitting in sweaty clothes.0 -

This. When my step-son was visiting us (about 8 months at the time) I brought his swing into the bathroom and just took a bath
As for finding time, I'm sure you have 30 minutes hiding SOMEWHERE to just walk or do something!0 -

That is EXACTLY what I used to do. It was a BONUS when she came in the shower with me because then we were BOTH clean, lol.0 -
I would work out during her nap then just have her sit in her bouncer in the bathroom while I showered. Or I'd just have my husband watch her while I showered. It's not too bad for your skin, but it could clog your pores and cause acne if you don't at least wipe problem spots prone to acne off with a wash cloth. You can wait it out, but really, getting your child used to the noise of a shower is probably good for them0
