I have been having this awful leg pain. I get it just walking across the street, mowing the yard, taking a walk. The muscle in my lower leg gets very tight and hard as a rock and sends pain all the way up my leg. It hurts so bad, I feel like I can't lift it for one more step. It happens in the other leg once in a great while but not often and the pain and tightness isn't near as bad. I went to the doctor about it 3 times last summer. First, she told me I wasn't drinking enough water so I increased my water intake. Then, she told me I needed new shoes b/c shoes are only good for so many steps...so I bought new shoes. Then she said I had bursitis in my hip and gave me a steroid shot. NONE of those things fixed it. I don't know what's causing it. Has anyone else had this problem? Sure wish I could figure out how to fix it.

I never have gotten that pain while walking, but I have started getting this pain when I first wake in the morning as I stretch before I get out of bed... I know the pain, and it hurts bad! I used to only get these pains while I was pregnant, always as waking up as I stretched out... But there is no way I'm preggo again, I don't know what it is... but I'd love to hear more advice!0

Does the pain happen only when you are walking? And in the back of your calf?
If so it could be something serious related to arterial disease. I would suggest seeing a different physician. I would also suggest asking about having a doppler study done to assess the blood flow in your leg.
(The pain associated with this is called "intermittent claudication" and it happens when you use the muscles in the lower leg)0 -
When I was pregnant I got a lot of leg cramps in my calf, the doctor said to increase potassium. I started eating lots of bananas and it helped. Not sure if the pain you are having is the same. hope you figure it out.0
