spilt screen photos

I keep seeing these split screen (two photos in one) photos and I need someone to explain to me where and how I get one??

    you can make them in a paint program

    I think you just have to make them yourself in paint or photoshop or similar

    So I have a MacBook that we have had for over a year and I still don't know how to use it.... can anyone direct me to a paint programme on a MacBook??...

    I have a macbook - I'd say either picnik online or iphoto

    Other solutions above are good, but for a simple way of combining two similar sized pics, without caring particularly about the fidelity of the final images, I do this:

    Open TextEdit.
    Drag pic 1 into window
    Drag pic 2 to the right of it.
    Cmd+Shift+4 to take a snapshot.
    That's it, the resulting image is on the desktop.
