I have just lost 5 pounds in 5 days. Is that healthy? Is there any such thing as losing weight too fast?

If you just started that isn't too uncommon.

Whenever I fall off the wagon for a while and I come back to my diet and exercise the first 5 - 10 pounds drops off super fast.

Most likely it is water weight coming off.

Same with me! However, if you are losing 5# a week after week, THAT is unhealthy!
    Good Luck!

When I first joined, I dropped like 5 pounds in less than a week, too, but then it evened out. As gigipaula says, though, if that happens continuously, though, that's a problem and you need to revise your activity status in your goals so that you will get enough calories to be okay. Also, make sure you eat back your exercise calories, because the deficit that's programmed into your goals is a safe amount to help you reach your weightloss goals week by week.

The more you have to lose, the faster it comes off, but the body will regulate that pretty fast and weight loss is then slow and steady if you follow the plan.

Think not just weight loss, but getting HEALTHY!!!!

I've been in this for 3 months now. The weight started coming off slowly, then steadily, but this week...ZOOM! I guess I shouldn't complain.

I see that you sometimes have up to 1,600 earned calories leftover for the day. So if you have set you mfp to lose 1 pound per week, you would be at a 500 calories deficit already. When you don't eat your excercise calories that you have earned, you are actually 2,100 calories under what would be required to maintain your current weight. This deficit is actually less than your daily required calories so it's like you are skipping eating altogether for that day. I would say that is not a very healthy thing to do. I would try and stick closer to the calories that mfp tells you to eat. I find even if I go over a bit, I still lose.

Thank you . That seems helpful. Thanks for looking at my diary. I'm switching into maintenance mode, so I will eat a little more and work out a little less.
