Tummy Help!

Okay, after losing over 70#, my tummy has definitely gone down A LOT. But after being severely overweight for many years PLUS having two pregnancies (while I was overweight at that), I have quite the tummy skin, cellulite and stretch marks. Anyone have any tips on improving the appearance of this?? I am starting the 200 situp challenge but I know that will only help the stomach muscles hold in more and keep the tummy from sticking out as much.

I've considered a tummy tuck in the future after I've lost all my weight, but honestly, I don't want to go under the knife! I had a friend who had liposuction on her tummy only, and given her excess skin and stretchmarks, it doesn't look very attractive. I don't want that.

I know there are a lot of gimics out there for improving skin and tightening skin on areas of the body, but has anyone tried anything that actually works???

My doc said to drink water - this helps with the cellulite. And that it takes time.

Skin stretches quicker than it retracts. But your skin cells die quite fast in comparison to the rest of your body and they won't regenerate as many where there is 'loose' skin because it doesn't have a purpose.

Working abs will definitely help your body deal with it and build muscle that will help burn what's left between your loose skin and the abs.

I'd check with your doc if its something that's still bothering you at the end of your journey.

I'm using an over the counter "serum" by Nivea but not sure if it will help the skin or not. My daughter used it after her pregnancy but of course her skin is young and her stretch marks were fresh from pregnancy.

Thank skylar, I definitely do plenty of water. I'll just see how things are when I am finished losing the weight I want to lose and go from there. Plus, I'm hoping the crunches will at least improve it some with tightening the muscles.

I had the same problem! I lost the weight then did JM 6week 6pack to tone the area. I've always drank lots of water so I don't know if that helps. Re the stretch marks, mine have faded dramatically but I've always motorised my body twice a day with palmers cocoa butter (not the cream, the type in a tub that looks like a block of butter)

I sure wish I knew of a magic cure. Water will help. I'm sure good, nutritious food, and creams will help and toning, of course. But the reality of it is that there is only so much that will do. I'm 41 and I have horrible stretch markes from my 1st pregnancy and they've gotten worse with the other three. (I have stretch marks over 1/4 inch wide!) My skin is spent! I have stretched out muscles as well. Ugh! anyway, I've lost enough weight and toned up so that my tummy is relatively flat, but left with just hanging, scarred skin (think Freddy Kruger). A tummy tuck is my only cure. HOpefully yours are minimal. Quite honestly, I think some people have more elasticity in their skin. Maybe you are one of those lucky ones!! :o) Good luck!!!
