Last week my daughters school took part in a skipathon to raise money for the british heart foundation(skip for a healthy heart).
I have to say it was the most awesome thing (brought a lump to my throat) to see over 250 children from age 4 through to 11 and some teachers all skipping at the same time to some funky beats.
her school loves to get kids involved in skipping and even has a club for the younger ones to learn and a skip team (which my daughter is in) who train 1 morning a week and which now ex pupils (who help the skip team) have travelled over the country and been crowned british champs.
