Weight training 5 days per week, cardio only 3

I was talking with a girlfriend of mine who is in fabulous shape, she used to be a model for FHM! Anywhoo, she suggested that I up my weight training to 5 times a week and do less cardio in order to get the rest of this weight off... Has anyone tried this and had success? I have about 35 more lbs I want to lose and want to get it off in the next 4 months! I understand the theory of more muscle burns the fat, but I'm feeling intimidated! Im going to give it a shot but wanted to hear some other success stories if anyone has tried this! Thanks all!
