Going to visit friends tomorrow and there will be BUFFET, we all are supposed to bring something and I just know it will be sausage rolls, crisps and cakes!.. what should I take. Its all gonna be finger foods and as I am disorganized it has to be something I can buy on the way there.. any ideas?

I always bring a fruit tray. And it's always the first thing to go, even among the pastries and desserts. If it has strawberries and melons, it's a winner.0

When I am invited to things like this I bring something for everyone to share and then I bring a small container of my own food. If people question it, I just say I'm on a special diet for allergies, or whatever and such. This way no one is offended if I don't eat their food.0

Stop by the supermarket, and get one of three things: veggie tray with dip (and you'd be surprised how many people will eat those!), fresh fruit, or hummus and pita. All calorie-gentle and easy to pick up.0

A dip or coleslaw and some celery, tomato and cucumber etc?0

these are great ideas!
Ok stupid question time, with the fruit tray - is it just a case of buying the fruit and then slicing it up when I get there??0 -

I have been known to do this as well. I enjoy getting together with people, I do not enjoy the mass quantity of junky food that goes with most gatherings. I do have a diet that I follow for my RA and this way I know that I will have something I can eat.
I also try to take something healthy like veggies or fresh fruit to share, just in case there are other health conscious people there that may not be bold enough to bring their own food.0 -

I love the fruit tray idea. Whenever I go to a potluck, I try to bring something that I can eat that might be a bit on the healthier side. Good luck - the other night dinner at a friend's house consisted of Meat lasagna, clam cannelonis, garlic bread, caesar salad, fettuccini alfredo, and breaded chicken nuggett type things! I didnt' have a prayer! I just took my lumps and had the smallest portion of everything that I could. Still went up a pound, but I kept it in perspective.0

go with pre-cut fruit... its more expensive but worth it if you don't want to cut it up yourself... i usually also bring a pint of strawberries.
Hummus and baby carrots are great... hummus scares some people... but i don't care! that means more for me!!
I also always bring a huge bottle of water to keep myself away from the beer cooler!0 -

Most big grocery stores will have them already cut up, usually with a dip (which you can just skip if you want.)0
