Do chest strap heart rate monitors work in a swimming pool? Or, is there a specially made heart rate monitor specifically for swimming?

I use my Suunto in the pool - make sure it is water proof - rather than water resistant....mine states that you should not press the buttons while it is wet, so I activate exercise mode before I jump in - and stop it one I have wiped it dry at the end....

Same goes for Polar products too but it does say that conduction of the heart rate signal may be affected if there is a lot of chlorine in the water

Used to have that same model but broke - I got an omron as a gift but it's lacking some key features like kcal and it's only water resistant.
