My calorie goal is 1230 but I have only ate just about 700 calories today. I may have a snack later, but nothing that will get me to my calorie goal for the day. So is it bad to not to eat up to my calorie goal?

It's important to make sure you're getting the vitamins and minerals you need to fuel your body. I know I've had some days where I've eaten tons of vegetables and filled up on healthy foods so I didn't get quite to my calorie goal, but the difference between your goal and what you've eaten today is pretty drastic. If you don't get the fuel your body needs, it goes into starvation mode -- it keeps the fat around to ensure you survive so it's harder to get rid of.

there are many topics posted as people ask this all the time.. You might want to do a search and see some other answers as well as the ones you get here.
Yes it is bad to eat that few calories as you body cannot survive on 700 calories a day. It will eventually start eating away at your muscle to get nourishment and you do not want that. You will stop losing weight and then you will complain of being on the dreaded plateau
You can eat almonds for a quick 200 calories per serving.. you should have some high calories good fat foods around just for that reason.
You could get those calories by eating a greasy hamburger but it wont help you diet. you need to eat healthy calories and fat.
If you have started exercising you will need to eat even more.
the whole reason people stop a diet is because they get tired of not eating or they are starved and binge. this lifestyle change is so you dont go thru that and hardly notice the change but your body will notice and so will the scale>

Anything less than 1200 is not recommended, so while it's not necessarily bad to eat under your calorie goal, it is bad to only eat 700 calories.

It should be pretty easy to boost your cals up for the day even if you don't have a huge appetite, two thick slices of wholemeal toast with some kind of spread = 300 cals, a big glass of fruit juice = 200 cals. Just one of many suggestions.

My MFP is telling me that you need to have at least 1200 calories a day. I think that is too much though... Ok, well example today I admit I didnt have enough. Something like under 600 but I was not hungry. But I can not imagine eating 1200 calories a day. That means I would be back into my normal meal routine...

One low day wont do much harm, but if you only ate 700 cals every day then that would be bad.
