The Community Center where I take exercise classes changes their schedule each month and starting tomorrow one of the time I can go will be a Boot Camp class. What can I expect from this class? Also, I've got a bad knee (hyper-extended my MCL in college and 15+ years of softball and soccer) Is this class something that I can expect to be able to do?

Every class is different. Just try and see what you can do. You may want to tell the instructor about your knee before class

Good question! I've had surgery on both of my knees which developed into osteoarthritis. I've been able to do boot camps and P90X with my knees as they are. I would suggest talking to the instructor before the class and ask them for modifications to some of the moves that will not be so hard on your knees. I used to think that because I wasn't doing the jump moves that I wasn't getting results but you really can get results even without the jumping around. Good luck! :)

All the Boot Camp Classes I have taken are pretty rigorus on the legs/kness. They are pretty physical, you can most likely modify your moves, I would let your trainer know before class that you have knee problems so that they can advise you on how to do modified moves and also pay more attention to you during the workout to make sure your form is correct so that you don't re-injure. The instructors I have had in the past were fomer military so the workout mimicked military drills.

    I hope that helps!

    hey.
i have been going to "bootcamp" for 9 months now (class meets 3x a week -6am) and I absolutely love it.
the class is hardcore and u work out many muscle groups in each session.
each instructor should be able to tailor the workout as need (in my group over the span of the 9 months there were 3 people post-knee surgery and the instructor gave them modifications)

We have a number of people with knee problems in our Cardio Boot Camp class and they often ride bikes when we are doing our running or doing high knee steps. Yes you can avoid doing the jumping or high impact stuff and still get a great workout.

Thanks! It's the same instructor that teaches the body fusion class I take so I'll talk to her
