Going down for the third time

Ok. This is my third cry for help to be honest. Not sure if I am looking for help/absolution/reinforcement/ or to vent. So bear with me. I have been at MFP since Jan 3. Hit it hard for over 60 days......and lost 2.2 pounds. Quit in disgust. Was gone for a little while, but still ate pretty well and exercised occasionally.
Gained seven pounds....came back to MFP. Now, I have been back a month and, according to scale today....am 4 ounces down from where I started. Grrrr.
"eat your exercise calores"....I did. "don't eat your exercise calories".......I didn't. "increase your protein"......I did. "don't eat so much protein it turns to fat".......I stopped. "increase your fiber".......I did. "don't eat so much processed foods"....I quit. "eat around the edge of the store"......I do. "increase your exercise"......I did (for the record I did twice the amount of exercise MFP has me set at this week and have gained almost two pounds). "increase your calories".....I did. "only eat 1200"......I did.
Prior to Jan., I was a couch jockey. Since Jan 3, I have been doing Zumba, Leslie's walking tapes, walking in general, attempting to jog, and currently on Day 6, Level 2 of the Shred.
Tried to look at measurements vs. scale. Only lost an inch on my waist and one on my hips.
You put it out there, I try it. I have the motivation/desire/etc. to do this. Why am I failing soo miserably????
For the record, I am NOT quitting.....just winged a little bit.

I didn't looked at your diary but did you go see your doctor? There might be a medical problem. I understand your frustration...really I do. It took me 6 months to lose 14 pounds !!! I see prople losing that much in about one month and I work at it really hard. I have come to accept it as my reality. It's not fair but crying and having a tentrum won't change that!! (it might make me burn a few more calories !!!) As I see things I have 2 choices.....getting healthier....or getting fatter. All I have is time and the hability to choose my direction. Good luck0

I don't know. All I can say is I hear ya. I was having trouble too, thought I was doing everything I could and not losing an ounce, but someone suggested that I add elliptical workout to my walking, and I did. The weight dropped fast then. But I cheat a little and it bounces back up 2lbs in one day...one day!
Stick to the plan, mix up the exercise and really watch everything that goes in your mouth. good luck0 -
Go get checked my a medical professional?
I would suggest that if you have actually done all of the things you have listed here and none of them have worked, you might need some medical assistance? From my experience, all functions working properly, if you up your caloric spend and you reduce your caloric intake, you will lose weight. If this isn't happening, and you are certain you are eating properly and you are positive that you are working out effectively, then I would get checked.0 -
I think an inch off of your waist and hips is an accomplishment in it's self. If you are working out and eating healthy I wouldn't worry about the scale and would just do measurements. I have to eat around 1400-1500 calories for me to lose weight plus my exercise calories and I have a desk job, so maybe you need more calories.
I think you are doing great and should keep it up. Just think you could have the inches back.0 -
I agree it may be time to see the doctor. I checked out your food diary and it looks pretty good. I would maybe increase your calorie intake especially if you are working out hard. I wasn't losing a pound for 4-5 weeks because I wasn't eating enough. As soon as I increase my goal to 1 1/2 lbs per week and started zig zag'n my calories the weight started coming off.
I hope this helps. Good luck!0 -
It sounds like you're maybe doing so many different things in such a small amount of time, that your body hasn't had time to adjust to anything and it's just confused. 2.2 lbs may not seem like much in 60 days, but it doesn't mean that you weren't doing something right.
When I very first joined a gym, I worked out 5 days a week for at least 2-3 months, did circuits with cardio and thought I was going to lose a ton of weight. I lost maybe a few pounds. Literally, 2-3 lbs. It was frustrating. I had to really stick with it. I had to keep adding in exercise when I could. I had to make sure I was eating enough, but not too much. I found MFP, and I hired a personal trainer for 2 months and I finally saw some kind of results like I wanted. It took a LOT more work than I imagined it would, and a lot more time, but it happened.
I think you need to decide what you want to try, and do that and only that for a few months. Set your goal to 1 lb a week and eat your exercise calories back. Give it enough time to where you actually can see some results.
This is good practice for when you get really close to your goal weight. The closer I get, the longer it takes even when I am doing everything right.
Don't give up. Don't get frustrated. Just stick with one and if you need to tweak it, do so in small ways so that it's not such a shock to your body. Don't just stop eating your exercise calories... eat half for a week, then go to none. Something like that. .
good luck0 -
Thanks everyone! I really appreciate it. For the record, I did see the doc and I check out fine.... dangit! Changed my settings to reflect that I work out more than I had it set for before.....and it subtracted ten calories. Go figure. I WILL get this....failure is not an option. Just wish success was a little faster in coming. Thanks again!!!!0
