Best core workout?

What's your best core workout or exercise combo (reps, sets, etc)? I have 15lbs to goal and I carry all my extra weight in my core, I am very much an apple shape. Besides cardio, I really think I need to build some core muscles to burn this extra fat. Ideas? I'm thinking of doing the 30 Day Shred but it sounds super intimidating!

Best way to get rid of belly fat / core exercises is some cardio, weight training, and dieting. Notice I didn't explicitly say any abs? That's because ab workouts will not flatten your stomach, reduce your belly fat, or whatever. They may (and stress may) help with inches a little bit if your abs are weak and sticking out, but your abs can only get so straight.

With only 15lbs to lose, I highly suggest weight training over cardio. You may not actually lose 15lbs, but you'll look a lot better than if you did actually lose those 15lbs due to muscle tone. I found this out the hard way as I am now "skinny fat". If you want to see the difference that weight lifting does for a woman, check out the link in my signature. Try the 30 day shred...do what you can and keep working. The more you work the more you will be able to do, one step at a time. You don't have to master the workout the first time. If you can only do two reps then do two etc...until you build up. I started with the ten minute training dvds because I knew I could do one ten minute work out or do all 4 of them if I had time. This worked for me until I built up enough muscle and endurance to try Power 90 and Jillian's Ripped in 30. I'm doing week 2 of Ripped in 30 and there are a couple of moves I have to modify.
