So I know the drill about how eating back your exercise cals is a good idea and I normally have no problems....however today I pushed myself and biked over 16 miles and did about 20 minutes worth of laps. I wore my HRM and calculated I burned at least 2000 cals.

I'm currently negative for the day despite a 1000 cal lunch...How many cals do I have to eat back to not risk injury and recovery etc?

I'm toying with the idea of training for a triathlon and today was a test to see where I'm at. Figured I'd wait to do all three until I see how my body reacts (20 mile bike rides are well within my current abilities as well as swimming separately, today was to see how my body does after both)

just eat. Don't worry about how much. Eat a well balanced healthy meal. If you are truly stuffed, don't force yourself to eat 1000 more calories, and conversely, don't go to bed hungry. Find the middle ground. Eat for fuel, don't obsess over numbers.
