Calorie Burn question

Ok... this might be long winded, but I hope to find out the truth. I used my heart rate monitor for the first time today. I did 5 mins on the elliptical, and 25 mins on the tredmil going between 2.5 and 3.0. My total time was 30.19 min. Per my heart rate monitor (strap around my ribs) my hr was as follows: average HR: 158 high HR: 177 min HR: 137. It also told me that I burned 895 calories. But when I got home, I looked up a formula to use and this is what I found.

Calories Burned = [(0.4472HR+ 0.1263W + 0.074A - 20.4022) / 4.184] * T

So I plugged in all my numbers (my age is 26) and it told me the calorie burn was 490. Then I went and looked on MFP and it says my calorie burn should be about 300.... I am so confused!! I know that I was sweeting bullets! And I am new to fitness... so my heart is screaming, "WTH!!???" but I really want to reach my goals so I need to know how many calories I am actually burning. Can someone help me out please???

In the formula HR= Average Heart Rate(158). W=weight in kg.(mine is 128.64kg) A=age (26) T=Time (it was 30.19mins)

I know it is a long formula... Can someone tell me what to beleive?? I have no idea how many calories I should expect to be burning. Thank you sooooooo much!

I never knew of the formula but I think your hrm is very wrong. For me to burn 800 calories I would have to do about 70 mins on the ellptical with a resistance of 13 or an hour of kettlebell class along with 15 mins on the ellptical. I have a polar hrm. What kind do you have.

I would agree. Your hrm is wrong. There is no way that you would burn that much in 30 minutes. Typically when I work really hard for 45 minutes, my hrm says 350ish. So your formula estimate of 300 is probably pretty close. But remember....the formula is just an estimate.
