Jobs in the Health & Nutrition Field

I posted something similar to this a while ago, but I figured I'd do it again to see if I could get more answers and/or ideas. I have my Bachelors degree in Psychology, and have 1 year of my Masters completed (concentrating on Child & Adolescent Counseling). The problem is that my interests are steering away from Psychology, and more towards Health/Nutrition/Fitness. By the end of the summer I will have completed 2 courses in order to receive 2 certificates ('Weight Management Consultant' and 'Nutrition & Wellness Consultant'). I have no experience in this field.. or in any field really. I just quit my job at Starbucks.. and besides minimum wage jobs, the only other thing I've really done is babysit. My question is whether or not anyone knows of a job in the health/nutrition field I can get into that will pay more than minimum wage? I need to start making more money, & really want to get into something I'm interested in. If anyone has any information or tips, please share! Thanks

I am currently working towards my undergrad in the health industry, and have came across a career called child life. If you are like many and have never heard of child life, it basically is a career in working with adolescents in a variety of ways. In a hospital setting it could be anything from explaining through activities how there surgery will work, or what disease/illness they have, bereavement, playing with the child while the family gets some food, to many other activities. The only things required for a career in child life is you must have a bachelors in a related field (which psychology is) and then complete a certain number of hours at a hospital or clinic and then take a test to become certified. Assistant positions for people without a certification are also available. The salary for child life specialists start out around 30,000. I hope this helps.0 -
Not sure where you're from, but in Canada we have a field called "Health Promotion." Maybe that's up your alley?0

Well, obviously you could be a nutritionist, especially working for a hospital you'd make a decent salary. http://www.naturalhealers.com/qa/nutritionist-career.html. You could also be an RN or an MD if you wanted to go back to school. But I'm not sure if you are just talking about personal trainer type stuff?0

What about working at a gym as a trainer or fitness consultant? You would get to work in the health/fitness field and also use your psychology degree to help people over come there fitness battles! You may be able to start out at a gym and then maybe even start your own business as a personal trainer.0
