SUGAR

Everyday I go over my sugar allotment. The bulk of my sugar comes from fruit and yogurt. I don't drink soda or fruit juice and rarely any sweets. Is it as bad to go over when the sugar is coming from good sources? Should I cut down on my fruits?

I've come to realise that this question gets lots and lots of conflicting replies. Best thing to do is to google it and come up with your own answer, seriously. You'll see what i mean in about ten minutes, lol0

Many people will say no, but I think anything your body doesn't use can turn to fat so yes. Are you buying plain yogurt and adding fruit and toppings or buying sugary flavored yogurts? You'd be surprised the calories you could save there. Also take advantage of the summer fruits. berries and watermelon are all really low in sugar.0

iv recently been told to only have fruit when i plan to exercise otherwise it does store the sugar in your body so i have swapped for veggies instead.
everyone has thier own opinions and this is what iv been told to suit my needs. It makes sence i suppose, so i stick to things like carrots and spinach. but they also contain carbs and some sugars......i guess that also falls into the "eat in moderation" zone.

I buy Greek yogurt and the yoplait fiber one which is only 50 calories. I will go with the watermelon definitely! I love fruit and will not cut it out completely. But I may take a better look at which are lower in sugar.0 -
I am still learning about this too and my carb consumption (including sugar) has been bothering me lately but honestly - I can't give up my fruit!! It is the only sweet guilt free pleasure I have and it holds so many nutrients, vitamins and fibre that the positives outweigh the negatives for me but I limit my intake to 2 pieces per day. The fibre also slows the absorbtion of sugar into the bloodstream so more pases through the body - have it with some natural yoghurt and it is a double whammy apparently!? There are lower varieties though which may be worth researching.0

Oh no, don't give up fruit. Just balance it out. Realize that some are higher in sugar than others and take advantage of the lower in sugar, but just as yummy summer fruits.0

1. 5 a day = 3 veg 2 fruit
2. Find fruits which are lower in sugar0 -
Absolutely nothing wrong with fruit. Carbs DO NOT turn into fat in a caloric deficit. A caloric surplus can cause an increase in fat storage, not excess carb intake. DNL, De novo lipogensis, the act of carbohydrates being coverted into body fat is a costly metabolic process and is few and far between.
All carbohydrates are converted into sugars in our body. You shouldn't worry about simple vs. complex carbs unless you are diabetic. Fruits are also dense in micronutrients.0 -
Hilarious! I was just about to post this exact same question when I saw the heading Sugar in the list.
I also go over in my sugars - a Lot but it is because I eat strawberries and mango's. I wasn't sure if this is ok or not. I am also exceeding a lot of my vitamin requirements (not to mention the anti-oxidants) so I know it is good for me - but is it stalling my weight loss?0 -

There is at least 1 post a day on this topic.
The one that really bugs me though is: 'how many calories does 30DS burn' <-- literally EVERYDAY0 -

It will in no way "stall" your weight loss, unless consuming the fruit makes you go into a calorie surplus. There is no food that will stall weight loss in the context of a caloric deficit. Some foods are more calorically dense than others, but this does not translate to fat gain, as long as a caloric deficit is maintained.0
