I tried really hard to like that show. I like the action even if it's unrealistic but I can't get into all the personal drama. I knew a few guys who worked with the Nightstalkers task force (the aviation unit assigned to support special forces and Delta at Ft. Campbell). They were regular guys and didn't talk about the missions. Ever.
They did say that they had two sets of gear. One set had normal unit and rank insignias and one set was sterilized so that there was no connection to the US. When an alert was called, they would be told which set of gear to bring to the hangar. I don't know if it's still that way or not. They also said that the Delta guys were easy to spot because they would be the only guys on post with long hair and beards. Whenever you go anywhere on post, you are asked to sign in and provide your name, rank, ID number and unit. Even if they looked like every other GI, they would never give their unit affiliation and that also made them stand out.0 -

I love the show and I know that is not the way it really is in reality. It is entertainment, just like CSI is not like "real" crime labs.
I got so mad watching the show "stop loss" because they made everyone that came home from war act crazy and have mental problems when that is not how things really are!
My husband is a Iraqi veteran and it is his favorite show even though he will make comments like "that is not how they do it" or "thats a bunch of crap" LOL it's good entertainment
I love the unit, NCIS and CSI!! lol0 -
WE HAVE ALWAYS LIKE MILITARY MOVIES THAT HAS A LOT OF ACTION. WE ALSO ENJOY SCIENCE FICTION STUFF LIKE STARGATE, ETC. MY HUSBAND IS AN ARMY VETERAN. MY SON WAS IN ARMY NATIONAL GUARD. MY HUSBAND'S SON WAS IN THE MARINES AND NOW IN ARMY NATIONAL GUARD. HE JUST CAME BACK FROM IRAQ.
