    But what is clean eating?
  • Clean eating is focusing on whole foods and avoiding high fat refined and processed junk. Veggies, fruits, whole grains, lean protein. Lots of water, no alcohol, no sugar, etc.

Clean Eating magazine is really great. Stop at your local bookstore to read a little bit and buy it if you're interested. They also have a sample meal plan here: http://cleaneatingmag.com/MiniSite/downloads/7day_mealplan.pdf

Not a stupid question at all!

I just googled it to get you an "official" answer since I knew I probably couldn't describe it all that well, so here's a little blurb that I found...

In a nutshell, eating clean is the practice of eating whole, natural foods such as fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and complex carbohydrates. It also means staying away from the junk that typically makes up the Standard American Diet (S.A.D) These types of food include man-made sugar, bad fats (hydrogenated, trans-fat), preservatives, white bread, and any other ingredients that are unnecessary. An easy way to remember if a food is clean is: “if man made it, don’t eat it.”

A person that eats clean generally practices the following:

    Eliminates refined sugar
    Cooks healthy meals
    Packs healthy meals
Makes healthy choices when dining out
    Drinks a lot of water
Eats 5-6 small meals per day
Eliminates alcoholic beverages (or significantly limits it)
    Always eats breakfast
  • But what is clean eating?
it's a huge pain in the butt:grumble: I'm 6 weeks into eating clean before a show in Oct I hope to be in shape. I have never heared of it outside of bodybuilding, but it can be done of course, it is like others have said but you need to eat every 2 to 3 hours and lots and lots and lots of protien.

    No question is stupid!!!!!

GOD, I wish I had a cook come work for me about 3-4 days a week.......
I figure if I did clean eating for 3-4 days a week, I could normally eat healthy on my own the rest of the time nad still loose weight

I find that I stay on track with healthy eating when I spend one day prepping my meals ahead of time and freezing them. Example: I made spicy lentils and brown rice and have 4 servings in containers in the freezer ready to take to work. I generally shop for produce on Saturday, come home, wash it and prep it (destem things, chop/dice, etc.) then cook on Sunday. I also stop by the grocery store a few times a week for fresh fruit. Of course this is all easier said than done most of the time but I feel so much better when I do this. Last week I wasn't prepared and went to Chipotle on my lunch break. Granted I ate fairly healthy (burrito bowl with no rice, black beans, mild salsa, corn salsa, guac and lettuce) but the portions are huge and I couldn't stop eating it because it was all there. Bad excuse, ha!
  • re: limiting alcohol. I thought a little red wine (2-3 oz) on a regular basis was supposed to be good for you?

I try to do this too. We will make soup on Sunday and freeze it in serving size containers for later consumption. Makes eating health easier
