I have quite a few friends and many of them I feel I am building up a good relationship with. They are fab at supporting me and visa versa.

BUT, I have got quite a few who haven't logged in for a long time (3 months +). What is the general view on keeping/deleting these? I'm happy to keep them if I feel I can help them, but would rather add others who can support me and who I can support.

I'd appreciate any comments.

Thanks

  • Hello!

I haven't been on MFP for awhile..but I do facebook..and if I haven't heard from a friend in a few months..I usually delete them. If they want to add me back I will (they may not just like posting or commenting..but they like read what everyone elsei s up to). :)

I delete after a month of inactiveness. or if we haven't ever talked after I have added them or they have friend requested me.

I have a hard time keeping up with those friends that support me if I have tons of friends I don't really talk to,.

    Its up to you.

I just deleted from 260 down to 60. I want to be able to support my friends on MFP and encourage and follow their journey. It's impossible to do with hundreds (for me anyways) so I limit my list. I love the friends i have, and i'm open to adding new friends if they are on a similar journey or they are in need of support, but i will delete people that a) haven't logged in for awhile or b) aren't actively talking, encouraging, supporting, etc.

I just reviewed mine too. My friend list was adding up. I, too, have some that I communicate with on a regular basis and others I do not. I hope I didn't hurt anyone feelings, but I deleted those I didn't communicate with anymore.

If they aren't communicating how can you be hurting their feelings? Think it's the best way.

oh believe it. You will hurt peoples feelings for the silliest reasons. Some people like to collect friends, just like on facebook. People also take offense to the silliest things.

I agree with everyone else.....the network is important and supporting each other is vital to success in my opinion. There is a balance though....it's great to get the well done's from a weigh in, or advice to a query/question raised...but those that just comment out of habit when you have completed a diary entry doesn't give me much unless they are commenting on the food in my diary. I've made my diary open and would encourage that of the friends that I have on here. That way we are able to inspire each other with meal choices and help each other on a bad day. :)
