I went to my first baseball tournament/camping trip of the season this past weekend. It's always a major event with a lot of people camping in the adjacent park, so the bleachers are always full. My mom also plays in the tournament, so I was expecting her, but not sure where to find her in the crowd of people. So I hang out in the stands for awhile to catch a game.

Someone hits a foul ball that flies behind the bleachers, so I run to go retrieve it. No big deal, go back to my seat, idly scan the crowd for my mom... but no sign. I sat there awhile longer with friends watching games (my mom was late at this point, or so I thought).

The game ends, everyone vacates the bleachers, and I'm walking back to my campsite. Behind me I hear, "See, I TOLD you it was her!" This was being said to my own mother, by her friend, about me. Apparently when I went to grab the foul ball, her friend saw me but my mom was convinced it wasn't me. I jokingly confronted her about it, and she gives me this little gem: "You just... I'm sorry! You just... I don't... you don't look like you anymore! ...er, where did your butt go?"

I can successfully say she didn't even recognize her own daughter. hah. What a difference 22lbs makes (even though I gained a few of those back over that weekend). =p
