S.B.F. Challenge. . .September 15

Morning, everybody!

Today is teaching (which involves a commuter walk of 20 minutes at each end) and bikram tonight.

I'm trying to drink water instead of coffee while teaching. . .so that's a switch.

So, water (instead of coffee), vits and bikram and a little walking.

Happy workouts.

Oh, and it's 20 degrees (F.) cooler today than yesterday. Thanks, Ike. (what was left of him passed through here yesterday, I'm told) So, it's fall now, I guess.:flowerforyou:

    Good morning!
Viv, I am also switching to water, most mornings instead of drinking juice. My reasons are for the saved calories. I still have juice if what I am eating for breakfast is low in calories.
Isn't the cooler weather great? I am excited about going for a walk this morning!
My head is better this morning, though still bruised. For those of you who don't know I hit my forehead really hard on my car when I was working on it yesterday. That car has caused more blood, sweat and tears than anything else I've ever had. lol
    Today:
    drink water
    clean up the house!!!!
    do my push ups
    go for a walk

CP, I'm like you, I get burned out pretty easily with DVD's (Shred). Especially ones that are so basic. Maybe if I'm not too tired from cleaning I will try to throw Shred in there somewhere.

I hope you all have a great day!

66 degrees here! So nice. Won't see 90s until this weekend! So that means my new challenge is in effect - must not use the car for an errand. I know to V this sounds a little silly, but in Texas you get in your car to go to another store in the same parking lot:laugh:

Went for a bike ride yesterday. The first hour went with husband down to campus and back. For the second almost hour, went to get husband a chocolate croissant. He got in this bad habit of eating croissants as frequently as possible during our travels in Canada, so now he wants at least one every weekend. First bakery I went to was out of all but cheese croissants, but I got myself a piece of mocha almond cake. Then I went to the second bakery - it was over this HILL. It was a short but steep hill. My HR reached 190 - which, according to my HRM is like 105% of Max HR. I thought that was kinda funny. After I got home, I kept asking him when he was going to eat his croissant. I think I wanted him to really enjoy it after my hard work.

Since I didn't eat dessert all week, I was looking forward to this mocha almond cake. I get home and it's the smallest piece I've ever seen from a bakery!!! It's ok though. I've been having some stomach issues and had to eat it in two different sittings.

Today is weights, yoga, and walking. I plan to bike to yoga to get that errand done. I might bike to the store tomorrow as well - the weather is so nice.

    Morning!

It looks like its going to be a nice day here too! Not sure hot warm it will be though.

Goals for today: Clean my house, fold my laundry, stay within cals, drink all my water, try to burn 700cals!!

I am not working anymore so I have a lot of extra time. I figure if I can work out 3 times today... about 25mins each I can make it to 700cals. That would be great! I want to try and burn 700 cals 5 days a week. That may be a bit much, but I can still try.

    Oops. . .

so I had coffee while teaching (hey, I'm not a morning person). So, that's an extra cup of coffee and behind on my waters.

Have a horrible case of what I call the "don't wannas" today. Teaching really tires me out. I'm going to be dragging my butt into bikram in thirty minutes, though. It will either rejuvenate me, or make sure I sleep extra good tonight.

Having stomach pain, skipping weights. Had it yesterday too and for the past couple months on and off. It's in my upper abdomen and does not feel like an illness, though I was nauseous this morning. I had PB puffins the past two days - could be an allergy to corn or PB? At least I'm going to the doctor on Wednesday.

My wheat issues do present with stomach cramps, but those sound like a different locale. . .

Sorry, hope it's better soon. Def. mention to the doc. Those PB puffins are evil. . they're sort of like healthier Cap'n Crunch.

Mary - have you noticed the pain after eating something higher in fat by any chance? I had my gallbladder out a few years ago (it turned out I had a bunch of gallstones), so that is the first thing I think of. The pain was very severe in my upper/middle abdomen (morphine was required!) and sent me to the emergency room several times. Abdominal pain sucks because it tends to not be very localized (and it can be "referred" from one side to another, etc) and often manifests with nausea, so it is hard to diagnose. In my case, they told me for MONTHS and MONTHS that it was just acid reflux. I was taking all sorts of acid reducers, antacids, sleeping with blocks under the head of my bed (so it was angled), not eating after 8pm, etc etc. Finally I got in to see a specialist and they did an endoscopy (where they stick a small camera down your throat to look at the esophagus) and discovered that I had no evidence of reflux whatsoever. Then they did an ultrasound and voila! At least one gallstone more than 1cm in diameter. After the surgery, the surgeon mentioned there was a lot of scar tissue on my gallbladder (I didn't get to see it, though :frown: ) and said, "It looks like you had some pretty good attacks". :noway: No $#!+, Sherlock.

When I thought back, I was able to remember a few times when I ate fatty food (actually, it was BRIE one time  ) and then had an attack that night. The main purpose of the gallbladder is to store bile, and then release it into the top of the small intestine to help digest fat. So if you have gallstones, and then eat something fatty, when the gallbladder contracts to release the bile, it squeezes against the stones and hurts like heck. Since I had mine removed, I have had zero problems. If I eat a really fatty meal I might feel kinda heavy and gross, but I figure that's only fair!

That's probably way more than you care to know about the gallbladder. Anyway, it's a possibility. You should definitely mention it to your doctor, but be prepared for a non-diagnosis for a while. They tell me that acid reflux can be really painful, and it's easy enough to get OTC meds like Maalox (antacid - neutralizes acid) or Prilosec (acid reducer) and see if they help. They also might do blood work to check the pancreas or other stuff. Good luck, and I hope you feel better soon! :flowerforyou:

I'm trying to work up the will to go ahead and do it today. I already did my pushups and went to aerobics class, but I'm definitely having a case of the "I don't wanna"s when it comes to Shred.

Thanks CP. It pretty much happens no matter what I eat - but it could still be gallstones I'm sure. I wouldn't call the pain severe by any means. I just don't want to eat anymore. I have 400 calories left today and a chocolate cup cake in the kitchen. These two things do not happen at the same time in my house!

I'm also looking at the allergy route. The only thing I have a lot of, perish the thought, are legumes! Oh my, that would be a vegetarian's nightmare - no soy, no peanuts, no lentils, no beans.
