Out to eat.. What to have earlier in the day?

If you go out to eat at a restaurant for dinner or lunch, it's almost safe to assume you won't be eating the healthiest foods. If you are going out to like a Fridays or chilis, what do you eat the rest of the day?? Do you just admit that you will probably go over your calorie goal or just eat half of the entree at the restaurant or try to eat a lot less before you go out to eat.

I would watch your salt intake the rest of the day because alot of those places use a TON of salt in their entrees. I also try to watch my calories that day and save them for my dinner. the 1/2 in the box right away thing is a good idea also, although I have to say I have never done it.

I usually go online and look for the menu and nutritional guide. I do try to eat smaller throughout the day/

I plan the whole day out, planning on loading up in the 1000-1250 range that evening. Better exercise to "earn" some freebie calories.

I go on line and get the menu and nutrition info and then plan my day around that and that includes doing extra exercise/cardio to keep under the calorie limit. Plus it makes ordering dinner/lunch faster since I know exactly what im getting.

I do a combination of all of the above. I plan out the day accordingly when I KNOW I am going to a restaurant, I then exercise enough to earn "extra" calories. I also plan what I will eat to keep my sodium, fat and calorie content low.
  • If I know that I'm going to go out to eat and eat lot, I'll just fast until I get to the restaurant. Or, I'll eat something small around lunchtime and still leave a large amount of calories.

I ate at Chili's the night before last, and my meal came to around 1100 calories, which was easily fit into my caloric budget.

I go online and plan what I will eat and then build the rest of my meals around that and try to get at least 60 mins of exercise.

pre plan if possible as said. Try and get a morning workout in. Otherwise, I will pretty much eat the same as regular. I was doing intermittent fasting and going out to a restaurant to end a fast wasn't the best thing for me as I would then be tempted to over indulge. Don't forget to drink lots of water :)
  • a little tip i learned from seeing my dad always do, he always tells the waiter "cooked without salt" because those places LOAD IT UP!

I just get what I want, eat it, and move on. Lifestyle, not diet.
