personal trainer / nutrition certification

So I've been working up the courage to start a program to get my personal trainer certification. I've had a few recommended to me including ACE and ISSA.

But I've personally been looking at Penn Foster career school. They offer a personal trainer / nutrition certification and career placement services for a price that is decent for my very tight budget.

I was just wondering if a certification from an online school program like this would have the same merit as an ACE certification for example?

Also wondering if anybody has done any of the certification programs through Penn Foster or anything like this and could tell me what I should expect.

I'm really just kind of nervous because though affordable it's still a lot of money to spend and I want to make sure I'm putting my money in the right place.
