Foot Pain

I'm new here and getting back into exercising after being away for about 8 months. I started out slow and have increased my activity and now I'm having some burning pain on the TOP of one foot only, usually worse at night. I'm not doing any high impact activities, mostly walking, elliptical and Arc trainer. Ice helps a little. No redness or swelling. I do get 60-100 min of aerobic exercise most days, but not all at once. I have two pair of good shoes, and I alternate between them. Any suggestions or input? Don't want to run to the doc with every little ache, I know, no pain, no gain. (I'm a nurse so I do know the Alert symptoms).
Thanks.

I had a similar problem a month ago. the doctor said it was probably because of too high an incline on the treadmill. I am not sure if you are using a treadmill, but he pointed out that at high inclines, we tend to walk 'unnaturally' - not leaning forward as we would if climbing. ANyway, a week's rest adn it is fine - but no higher than 6 on the treadmill regardless of the speed.

I had the same problem but mine was caused by my arches falling which in turn causes nerves in the top of the foot to get pinched.

That makes a lot of sense, I don't use the treadmill, but I do use incline on the elliptical and the arc, so I'll tone that down and see if it helps.

could be your foot, but it could also be coming from your hip flexors and low back.
