Overeating due to Soda?

I have had a pretty bad week with overeating and feeling sluggish. I just haven't wanted to do anything. I realized that this week I started to drink soda again, does it make sense that I feel the soda is to blame? When I drink it, I tend to eat more and not want to move around. Does this make sense or is it just chance that it happened at the same time as me having a bad week?

Is it diet soda? I noticed that problem when I had my diet coke addiction (need 1 every afternoon after lunch, if not more). About an hour after the soda, I would feel so hungry for sweets. I would give in for said hunger/craving.... equaling weight gain. I've heard the artificial sweeteners can do that for some people.0

It makes TOTAL sense! When you drink pop... you are taking in refined sugars... and when you do that, it makes your body crave more sugars, or pretty much anything that is bad for you... When I drink pop it makes me want chip, cookies, pizza... all the good stuff that goes with pop. So you pretty much should cut pop out all together. Thats just my opinion though... I am sure there will be others0

You know, I had one glass of Dr. Pepper on Saturday and didnt even finish it all, and I had two sips of Sprite yesterday. Now I will take full blame for eating things I should be because that was my choice to put it in my mouth and eat them... however, I think that since I drank them I have been on some sort of sugar crave and i will blame that on the soda. I read on here once that if you drink your carbs, which soda has alot of, you start to crave a bunch of carbs! I think that may explain why I have been craving junk and sweets. which I indulged today and I am going to fix that tomorrow and start completely fresh.

When I drink soda (diet only) I have the most insane urges to snack. I want salt and I want sugar. I have significantly cut back since starting in March -- sometimes only 1 or 2 a week (versus several per day). I don't know how they are related but I really think they are.0

Okay good! I was feeling that I was looking for something to blame but for two weeks I was drinking only tea with raw sugar(and only a glass a day) and water and I was doing GREAT! But then over the weekend, I had a Sprite, which turned into to more diet mountain dews and a few Diet Dr. Peppers and I had about 4 bad days in a row.0

i drink like 2 pops a day. I know it's not healthy, but I've lost 20 pounds so far, so I don't think it's impossible to lose weight while drinking soda, but I know it's VERY hard because it eats up your calories SOO much. You eat a few crackers and a can of pop and there goes 350 calories right out the window!0

I would say yes...soda is probably to blame. I quit drinking soda about 11-12 weeks ago and I have pretty much relied on water, Sobe Lifewater, Lipton Green Tea(that I mix in water-although I am not drinking that as much anymore either), lemonade (usually Crystal Light), and occasionally milk. But mostly it is water. I have noticed that since I have given up soda, I do not crave the sweets like I did before (I too was a Diet Coke addict...I had been drinking Diet Coke for 30 years! My High School Basketball coach got me started on it.) and I have much more energy. Now, I just have to try to find some really good foods that are not so high in sodium that allows for water retention! :bigsmile:0

I have completely given up soda too. If its not regular soda, I will not drink it..so diet is out of the picture!!!!!! I don't get as hungry as I used to. And I dont have the energy slumps either during the day!!!! Give it up. Its terrible for you to begin with!!!!!! *hugs*0
