Hi, I am an apple body shape. I am worried about losing weight and looking too skinny in the arms and legs but still having the gut.
My arms and legs are quite skinny now but I am 138lbs and it's all around the middle. I have been told that the belly fat is the last to go so I am worried that I am going to look half dead before I get rid of the belly![:( :(](https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/resources/emoji/frowning.png)
Any advice?

I see two choices...
1) Stay the way you are
2) Be healthy0 -
maybe more ab exercises?
I know they say you can't target a certain spot, but I have a gut (lol) and have noticed the the more I work my abs into a cardio routine the smaller it gets. Like... if you're a walker, do some knee lifts and add a crunch in there. You can cross over with your elbox and get your obliques too. From what I understand Pilates is supposed to be really good for working your core, so that may help as well...
Also, make sure you are toning your arms and legs, that'll keep them from looking "dead." :drinker:
Hope this helps!
Good luck!0 -
Me too. I have decided ab stuff is useless. There is no point making your ab muscles bigger when they're hidden by fat anyway, in actual fact it is only bulking you out. What I am trying is a lot of cardio for general fat loss and leg muscle tone (using some resistance) and then circuit stuff to get muscle tone on the upper body to try and bulk it out so in comparison my stomach isn't so noticeable.0

Almost all my excess weight due to fat is around my middle. My arms and legs are thin. Like an apple with four toothpicks.
I am trying to do at least three days a week of intense cardio along with three days of strength training. Be sure and check with your doctor before doing so of course, but I believe the only way to reduce the fat is to burn it off. Cardio is great for that, but you need to do strength also; alternating days seems to be working for me. My weight is going down, and more importantly, my belly measurement is.going down too, albeit a lot more slowly than I would like--but it's working. Hang in there, never give up and never give in!

cardio, cardio, cardio and incorporate weight training and a litle bit off zumba (great waist workout). I am also an apple shape and although my tummy isn't there yet i have lost some serious inches.
Good luck
