So I know I was supposed to start eating more because my workout schedule is so strenuous...but I am LOOKING fatter. I just got back from a trip so I'm not weighing in yet...don't want to totally freak myself out....and I know you gain weight for a week or three..but should it be noticeable in my body. My tummy/hips/legs all look fuller to me. No question. Is this weight just going to hang around...I can't imagine this is going to lead to more weight loss. I'm a little freaked out.

If it's just visual I wonder how much of that really is just you freaking out?

It looks like you haven't logged anything in your food diary so I can't really give you advice :(

We were in North Carolina from Saturday to yesterday. I went for a run one day, but just let my body rest from all the exercise. Being on vacation with friends and kids, I didn't bother logging. It was too sporatic...which is fine....vacation is vacation. I can absolutely tell from visual though. It shocked me a bit.

Might it be water retention? You said you were on a trip so your diet was probably different and I've heard lots of gals say they gain a pound or two when they come back but its gone in a day or two. Drink lots of water and see if that helps flush you out.
  • I am in the exact same boat. Have been working out every day and I swear my stomach looks bigger. Ugh! Hope someone knows something we may be doing wrong.

What are you eating? Did you increase your caloric intake with less-nutritious food? I see that happen a lot. People up their calorie goal, and then fill that gap with junk food and sweets. If that's the case, that may be your problem. If you are still eating healthy, nutrition foods, just in larger quantities it may be that your body is adjusting. That happened to me when I moved from losing 1 lb per week to 1/2 lb. My body freaked out a bit, but now I am losing better than before. Just watch what you are eating, and I am sure that feeling will pass.

I'm really sorry to hear that - but looking at your diary, you have ENORMOUS calorie deficits (+900, +900, +1200) for 3 of your 4 last days logged... and not a lot of lean protein or veggies in there. I would really suggest filling your day with less sodium, better protein and veggie and drinking lots of water. also, sometimes it takes a few weeks for your body to adjust, the weight might not "fly off" right away depending on how much you have to lose.

Regarding your body being "fuller" - that could be lots of things, but high salt intake (and conversely, low water intake) is a key culprit. Keep pushing through - I'm sure you can do it!

I'm also going through the same thing, and it is very frustrating!

when you start a new exercise regime your muscles fill with water. Its to repair and protect muslces that are new to being battered!! You do feel bigger, for sure. But it's only temporary

I think it can last up to 3 weeks, depending on how severe the battering!!

In fact, I'd say with P90X mine lasted 4 or 5 weeks :noway:

Keep doing what you're doing. It does go! And you're left with lovely strong muscles and fat loss :flowerforyou:
