NSV-Swim Suit

Okay, I'm a 36 year old mother of three & had all three via c-section. So, needless to say, I HATE shopping for swimsuits. I usually go for the full coverage kind, as I'm sure noone really would want to see my railroad track of a stomach. Last year my hubby bought me a really pretty one from Lands End & I love it (even though it shows more cleavage than I'm used to), but I'd like to have a back up suit for when we are at the lake for a week, so, today I went looking. Now I have lost at least 30 pounds since last swim suit season, so, I don't really know what style or size I really need (the one he bought me last year still fits since it was a little small on me when bought it). So, I get to the store and, I pick out a few that are pretty modest & then for giggles, I picked up a bikini. A real bikini, not the tankini style that I already have. I put it on and turned to look in the mirror & I was amazed! I couldn't believe that was me staring back from the mirror. I've lost enough weight that the "railroad tracks" are barely visible & that felt good! I didn't buy it, since I do still have some toning up to do, but the fact is, I wasn't grossed out by what I was looking at in the mirror, and that for me, is a true NSV!

Definitely a NSV! Great job! :D
  • Way to go! I bought myself a new swimsuit in April (size 12 compared to my old size 16) and I'm just hoping it won't be too big for me by the end of the summer. Next year, I'm planning on buying myself a bikini to celebrate myself.

That is awesome! It is always nice to be comfortable with how you look, especially in a swimsuit.

Fantastic! I know what you mean. I'm 41 and had a baby 2 years ago, and am just now getting rid of the baby belly. I went swimsuit shopping a few weeks ago and actually BOUGHT the bikini!! My stomach isn't as flat as I would like it yet, but I still feel pretty good about my progress and will be wearing the 2-piece either way.

Let's hear it for the moms rocking the bikinis this summer! =)

That is a victory! Congrats to you! I bet it won't be long before you're rockin' the bikini!!

I have 4 children 15,13 were born naturally then 4 yr.& 2 Yr. old were c-sections..my belly is a bit rough. I had avoided bikini's the past several years. I tried some on last weekend and they actually looked pretty good with the weight I've lost and all the exercise I've done. I think there are some loose skin issues that will be there but all in all it was okay. I didn't buy it that day as the top didn't really fit (I'm an unusual size) but I did order one yesterday so I hope it fits well when it gets here!
  • Well, I did it! I broke down and bought that bikini! Some of the replies to my post gave me the little extra push I needed to just do it! So, I went bathing suit shopping with my 27 year old sister and we picked one out that I LOVE! I got it home & tried it on for my hubby & I loved the smile on his face when he saw me in it! So, that will be going to the lake with me this year when we go on our summer vacation! And can I just say I LOVE MFP!
