i was looking for help with my carbs / sugars i constantly go over on these... im coming from a slimming world background where we were told to eat as much potato and pasta and rice as we like, i have cut back enormasly with these but i do still have something everyday and i was looking for alternatives... i generally have a sandwich for lunch so i guess i could change that easily enough to wholewheat bread but i normally have a jacket potato or rice or pasta with a meat and salad for tea and i dont know what to switch this with that will keep me under? sorry to sound stupid but i'm also coming from a convience food lifestyle and healthy eating is a realitvely new concept for me... i thought i was doing well eating salad but it seems slightly more complex than that! thanks for any thoughts

I understand the struggle with carbs and sugar, being a woman, they haunt me and make devilish pleas to be eaten. Urgh! So frustrating, but for lunch I use salad with tuna and some sort of very light dressing (way under a tablespoon), stir, and serve. Amazingly, if the lettuce is cold, it tastes delightful. Then if I crave sugar, look towards fruit because natural sugar has a much better purpose.
Also, Atkins has amazing desserts made without sugar. You can find them in the weight loss shakes aisle at Wal-Mart, or a similar store. They have peanut butter cups, chocolate bars, etc. and they taste great! I don't care much for any form of substitute, because real is always best (or so I thought), but these are good. And for a double plus, their chocolate protein shakes are good for filling up the appetite, cut cravings, and upping the protein for weight loss without the sugar. That's all I can think of currently, since I struggle constantly with the same issue. Good luck.0
