I have recently returned to a weight I was 5 years ago, but WITH something I didn't have before; mid-section fat/thickness. Is it possible to exercise this off or am I stuck with it?? It's not real bad but I feel 3 months pregnant and it's kind of annoying. If so, what exercises? I have a gym and a stability ball. Thanks so much!!

 Good Question: BUMP0

I've found that mixing cardio with strength training (so, basically circuit training) has helped with my belly - more than anything else I did.0

Yes you can lose it!! I don't think there is any specific exericise that you can do to target that area but ab workouts and crunches help tighten it considerably. I'm about the same age as you (I'll be 46 this month) and mine is slimming on down and almost flat:) Just be patient and it will happen for you:) Do you drink lots of water? That seems to help me too!0

While you can't 'target' specific areas you can 'tone' the muscles in an area while working on overall fat reduction.
Tummy area (Upper/Lower ab work) can be toned dramatically and quickly while fat 'pouches' can continue to be an issue.
But yes it can be done.Great news right...
The fat burn is Cardio work...0 -
Yes you can, you have probably lost muscle mass over the years, and now that you are down to the same weight you were, more of the weight is fat instead of muscle. Looking at your profile pic you look pretty good IMO, but weights might help if you are a little flabby around the middle. Weights will tone up those muscles and burn fat.0

Thank you everyone.
One more thing. If I exercise the flab away, forget it, I think I know the answer...
Ok, here goes anyway: If I reduce it in size, will it stay that way if I maintain my weight? It's probably more complicated OR SIMPLE than this, right??0 -
If you exercise it away and then continue to eat well and workout -- it should stay the way it is. The key is maintaining what you've worked so hard to accomplish. You can't work it off and then fall back into old habits.
But, continuing to eat well and workout 2-3 days a week you shouldn't have any trouble keeping it off.
