I have a Polar FT7 HRM( just purchased and have used for a week now) and I'm wondering if when I workout I usually only count my warm-up and workout calories as calories burned. I don't count cool down. What does everyone recommend on this topic? Do you start counting calories after your warm-up then stop at cool-down or do you just start at warm-up and end at cool-down? I just want to get the most accurate calorie burn bc I have been stuck at the same weight for 2 months uggggggggggggggggg!!!! HELP PLEASE :frown:

Personally I count it all, warm-up, work out, cool-down. But I think it really is personal preference.

Warm up & cool downs are part of your exercise program... You should not workout with out doing either of them.... If it's part of your workout & not part of your daily routine, why wouldn't you record it? :)

Count it all, warm up thru cool down. It's not part of your normal routine so should be counted as burned calories.

I count them all but when it comes to eating them back I usually don't eat back 100-200. If you really want to be exact subtract your resting calories. Go to your goal section and get then number is says your burn from daily activity. Say 1900 then divide that by 24 ( 24 hours in a day) then divide that number by 60, which gives you 1.319 calories per minute. You would then multiply 1.319 by the mintues you exercised (say 60) which is 79.14. Subtract 79.14 from the calories your hrm says and then you will know the true amount of calories your burned from just exercise.

I start mine after the warm-up and before the cool-down begins. Also, I subtract the number of calories I would have burned any way without exercise. For me, that's usually around 50 calories for a 45-minute workout.

Thank you everyone :) I have been recording warm-up and workout but have stopped my HRM before cool-down. I think I will change the way I do that now and just record everything.
