Ok I'll try to keep this short and only give important info.
About six months ago I tried losing weight (I'm 5'4") I was 140 and I quickly lost weight and dropped down to 135. I ended up falling off the wagon with my diet and never really got back on. I kept some of my little habits like switching from Vitamin D milk to 1% and such. However, I never gained back the 5lbs, no matter what I ate and I certainly was not working out at the time or anymore active than my usual day. When the tornadoes came through Alabama my area was out of power for a week. I ended up eating anything and everything til I was full bc we didn't know when we were going to get a decent meal again and there isn't much healthy food to eat when you don't have a fridge or stove or microwave etc. So I went back up to 140 and when we got power back I went back to my regular schedule and I stayed at 140. Since joining MFP I'm back down to 135 (and it seems there's no power in the 'verse to make that needle drop down any farther, but that's another issue....). But now I feel I'm struggling to keep it there. And I'm now working out and cutting my calories lower than the first time I dieted (just the 1200 MFP approved limit, no lower).
How was I able to maintain 135 without trying and now that I am trying it's a struggle? The only factor I can think of is that I changed my birth control about the same time I was dieting (from patch to implant). It could be that the new implant doesn't cause as much weight gain as the patch but that doesn't seem to explain why my weight wouldn't adjust once my eating got back to normal does it?
Thank you for your time!

it took time to gain the weight, it'll take time to lose it. be patient & keep making little changes to a healthier you.
) increase water, fruits, veggies, & fiber & decrease sodium, while you find ways to make yourself more active.

I really wish I had a good answer for you, mostly because you're a fellow Browncoat.
But I would say that birth control type can play a factor. I recently had to switch insurance providers and had an interim period where I had a different pill than I've been using for quite awhile now and I definitely got bloated and put on some weight in addition to the water weight that showed up. Once I got back on my previous pill, the bloating went away and those couple of extra pounds dropped off.
It's not a definite reason, but does certainly have the possibility to be one.0 -
Congrats on the weight loss JN! And yay for fellow Browncoats!
Thank you so much for the input and support. It's so frustrating that I was losing weight so well and got to 135 and one bad day (500 extra calories) just killed it and bumped me back up to 137. And my goal was to be below 135 by this Sunday for engagement pictures and now I'm just hoping to be 135.
Thank God for professional photographers and photo editing programs!0
