Just wondering if anyone lost weight once only to put it on in new body locations? I lost weight in my legs, thighs but and when it went back on, it went to my hips and stomach. A place I had never had a problem with previously. Anyone know the reason behind this?

I never gained weight in my midsection until the last few years. . .
this could be a medication I was on for a few years (a steroid) or just the fact, as my very tactful doctor pointed out that I "am no longer 20". *sigh*
Hormones play a big factor in where the weight goes, and as we age a bit, this changes. :grumble:0 -
As we age and our oestrogen levels decrease, we tend to gain weight in our midsections rather than our hips because we're no longer priming ourselves for childbirth. (I'm not saying you're old though lol...27 is considered physiological middle-age, and at 30 we start to see the big changes).0

Can I just take a minute, and say about this:

Thank you, that is all.0 -

Sowwy!!!
Well we are all ahead of the game here, because we are taking preventative measures by exercising and performing resistance training! :bigsmile:0 -

all I can say is, I would have worn my bikini all the time in my teenage years if I had known this tidbit.
I just keep looking at photos of Dara Torres (olympic swimmer) for encouragement.0 -

I was going to say the same thing....
I've always had a small waist with fuller hips, but now can't seem to get my waist below 27"...

I have noticed what seemed to be a re-distribution, but what really the result of loss of muscle tone.
The only time I have heard of something like what you are describing are those that have gained weight post liposuction.
I only know of one woman that got lucky and had weight redistributed to her breast.s Unluckily for her, she also had breast enlargement in additon to her liposuction. It was funny until i saw her, then it wasn't so funny anymore.0 -
I use to have a butt, no matter what weight I was. Now no butt. My mom even asked me where my butt was.
I have the lack of estrogen thing going on bc a hystrecomy and I can tell it in my waste. It sucks0 -

Oh man.... At 33 I definiately saw that my weight which used to look curvy on my hips instead became weight (like a mini-beanbag chair) on my tummy. What the heck? Crazy!!!
Didn't help I was still trying to loose some from the last baby.
Best of luck to you!:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:0 -
My weight is distributed the same, but LOOKS different. :grumble:
I was 170 at 35 and had no 'belly lap' now I am 150 and still have the hanging issue:sad: . So I am hoping with all my sit ups, walking, and weight loss it will GO AWAY!0
