Like, 15 on 15 off on the elliptical and such? When I up the intensity, I do, and then as it gets easier I stop, I was just curious if others do it, and if it's good, bad, other wise.

Depends on the intensity of the workout so if I'm doing a variety of intense workouts then I might take a 2-3 minute breather but no more so I will stay motivated.

I, personally don't do that. I have no idea if that's bad for you, but it seems odd to me. You need to get your heart rate up and keep it up. One thing you can do is up the intensity for about 1-2 minutes then bring it back down a little while still keeping your heart rate up, every 5 mins or so, do it again.

I do one intense 45 minute workout a day and I don't stop. I have heard of those who do, I just prefer not to.

I don't take breaks, just because it's easier for me to just power through the workout than to work out, stop, rest, then have to get going again. Once I start I can't stop till I'm done...

I don't take breaks, if I ever need to, I take less than a 3 minute break just to get some water.

I do 20 minutes on the elypticall, 25 minutes of weight lifting (with about 15-30 seconds between each set, I call it dying) and then 10 minutes on the elypticall. I read that you should break up your cardio to burn more. But really it's up to you, I was also told that you should lift weights before you do any cardio, or you should do 10 minutes to warm up...if in doubt, as the 100 trainers that are standing behind the desk at the gym.

I try to keep weight lifting under 55 minutes, or 30 minutes depending on which routine I'm on at the time. I will take a break if I feel its needed, but not more than 15 minutes. I've found any longer and I must warm up again.

As far as cardio only type excersises, I try to not to. Though if I need a break, I need a break.

If I need a break during my cardio, I'll slow down to a walk, but I try not to stop outright during my runs. During weights I'll take breaks between sets, but try not to let them be too long.

For cardio I do not take any breaks. In between my Zumba work outs I run in place, do dance moves, or jumping jacks until the next routine. I try to maintain my heart rate. For walking I maintain a steady pace between 4-4.5mph and sometimes to pump it up I go to 5mph for more intensity, no breaks.
They only time a take short breaks is during weight training and that is usually 15-30 sec between reps.

I do not think it hurts you to stop, but to have optimal calories burned you should not take breaks.
