Time taken from digestion to use by body?

Bit of a strange question: I'll try and phrase it in a way that makes sense. If I eat something sugary such as a piece of cake that has icing, how long would it be before that sugar was being processed and used by my body? So if I wanted to go for a run, how long would I need to wait before I was being fueled by said cake?

Also, if your glycogen stores are completely depleted, is it possible to rebuild them when you're on a large calorie deficit?

I have no idea, but I think that the sugar would start being processed right away and I would say a half hour or so before using it as fuel....?

Things that make you say hmmm.

Well very good question and no real answer for this except that simple carbs breakdown quicker than complex carbs because the chain is much smaller. Also you face another problem with food like cake is your blood sugar rises to quickly and then your body releases insulin which can bring yoru blood sugar down and actually can bring it so far down you feel hungry again and tired and weak so if you want to burn that cake your best bet is start running now deplete your glucose so that glucose from the cake is being used to refuel and not to fuel
