Awful day, falling off the wagon . . .

Hey everyone!

So this has been an extraordinarily stressful day. My car died last week (blown head gasket, requires the whole engine to be replaced for 4 grand), and so I've been digging around for a new car at a reasonable price so the payments won't completely kill my budget for the rest of the year. (I'm a college student so I live on one lump sum from my loan money for the whole year).

Well I finally found a good car (meaning something that's been inspected and will not break down for at least another year, cause I'm sick of having them break down at the worst possible time) and my mom volunteered rather bravely to cosign for me so I could get a good rate. She was on her way when the credit union came back and DENIED our application for financing. My mom has a credit score in the mid-700's and mine is mid-600's (which is good for a 21 year old college student, or so I've been told). I absolutely have to have a car so I wrote a check for the car and transferred the money from my savings, which means I have to find the money to cover that somewhere by the end of the year. OUCH.

Oh yeah and just to make things really fun, I have my GRE's scheduled next week and I have so much test anxiety it isn't even funny - this exam is going to make or break my chances of getting into grad school!

I am so tempted to just jump off the wagon and eat really bad things right now. :frown:

Thanks for listening, everyone.

Ah I feel you on that! Last year I was in the same boat, except that my car was totaled in an accident so I had to buy a whole new one lol. I'm also getting ready for the GRE's, plus I have an honors contract and a capstone project to do this semester, and I'm working over 25 hours a week, I'm about to go insane! But I promise that falling off the wagon will only give you something *extra* to worry about! It's a lot easier to try and stick to your schedule as much as possible. It will help with time management and to relieve stress.

The GRE's don't really make or break you...the school will look at your GPA, your extracurriculars, any volunteering/internship/research that you've been a part of, your future plans (like masters or PhD). Grad school is a serious deal, so they aren't going to base your acceptance on one silly standardized test. I am a BAD test taker, and I suck at math, so I know I'm not going to do great on the GRE. However, since I have done research once already and am doing another project this year and have an internship scheduled for the summer, I'm not too worried. If you have good grades and are an active student, you will be fine. :flowerforyou:

Step away from the ledge. Eating bad food you dont really want to eat will only ADD to your anxiety.

Please stick to your healthy diet and you will have 1 thing to hold on to.

    You can do this!
