My goal is one pound per week. I have been assigned 1200 calories. No matter what I put in, more exercise, less calories, etc. And I mean more workout to a point of being over ridiculous just to test the system, I am coming up with .5 weight loss a week. I cannot figure out how to manually make it say 1 pound. I tried upping the calories, lowering them. I tried adding more exercise. I still cannot get it to say the one pound loss. I am female, might that make a difference. I am 30 pounds overweight. My friends have suggested I go on a liquid diet which has worked on them unitl I drop down enough to start over here. I guess my question is what do I have to do to lose 1 -2 pounds a week?

The system will never set a guided daily goal of less than 1200 calories. If the calculation for you to lose 1 lb per week would put you below that, the system will not calculate it. If you go to the custom goals screen and change the daily calorie goal you can see the projected weight loss changing on the bottom right before you even save it. I just tried it and it gave me a higher projected loss as I lowered my daily goal.0

can you not just put in how much you weigh now and how much you want to lose a week and let it work out the calorie allowance from there, i'm sure that's what i did0

Not sure I understand the question but it might have to do with the fact that the system won't let you drop below 1200 cals a day and even at that, your deficit is too small to lose more than 1/2 per week.
Again, I am not sure what the problem is, but you are saying even if you set your goal to 1 lb per week you get 1200 cals and that amounts to 1/2 per week-perhaps because maintenance cals are not much more?0 -

MFP sets calories limits at a MINIMUM of 1200 and will not go any lower (due to the fact that you will not get the necessary nutrients when under that amount). Because you're not obese, 1200 cals will only result in about a .5 lb loss due to a lower deficit . For example, I set my goals to losing 2 lbs a week, but I lose only between .5-1.2 lbs per week--and my cals are at 1200 as well. The reason being you shouldn't be eating less than 1200 (at least not a lot less). No worries... slow and steady wins the race! It'll help train your mind and body!0

you can go on all the liquid diets you want and lose but as soon as you eat food you'll gain it all back and probably more because your body will crave the food. Its not a smart or healthy way to do it . I'm assuming you want to keep off the weight you lose0

Because I am five feet tall any excess weight (mine is 30 pounds over) is technically obese. I shld weigh no more than 132 top. All I was trying to do is have the system say that I would be 1 pound lighter per week IF I DID THIS AND THAT. There are no this and thats. I only get .5 no mater what I put in. It is interesting. I suspect it is my age they are calculating into this. I wanted to know what I can do to lose 1 pound. The system won't tell me. There is no help with what I can do. I am not impatient, really, just curious.0

Regardless of how much you want to lose, because 1200 is the MINIMUM MFP will provide you (due to nutritional necessitiy), (and you likely will need to eat less than that to lose 1 lb a week), you're stuck at about .5. I wouldn't worry about it. I would exercise, eat between 1050-1200 (plus the calories you lose during exercise (or about half)).. .and you should be fine! No hurry!0
