The ingredients list below is for the popular orange drink Sunny D.

Ingredients: Water, High Fructose Corn Syrup ******2% or Less of Each of the Following: Concentrated Juices (Orange, Tangerine, Apple, Lime, Grapefruit). Citric Acid, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Beta-Carotene, Thiamin Hydrochloride (Vitamin B1), Natural Flavors, Food Starch-Modified, Canola Oil, Cellulose Gum, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Hexametaphosphate, Sodium Benzoate To Protect Flavor, Yellow #5, Yellow #6******

My jaw dropped twice when reading this list. First was the fact that HFCS is the SECOND ingredient (they are listed by weight by the way). Jaw drop # 2 was the part where it states that EVERYTHING after HFCS is only 2% or less in concentration. So if you ever drink Sunny D again, remember this: you are drinking CORN SYRUP THAT HAS BEEN COLORED AND FLAVORED TO TASTE LIKE ORANGE JUICE!!!!! To that I say: gross, give me an Orange!

I don't know why people drink stuff like that. My fridge always has the following: Water, homemade unsweetened green tea, more water, even more water, and a bottle of white wine (YUM).
    I can't remember the last time I had a soda, and I don't ever think I've had Sunny D.
The worst thing in my pantry right now: tortilla chips and salsa. And the chips are whole grain. In fridge, the wine and some sugar free Popsicle (my boyfriend loves them). We eat and drink pretty healthy.

... One product that most people don't buy anyway because it tastes like *kitten*.....

Sorry, I just don't buy that product, I am still going to enjoy my cereal and fiber one brownies, and fiber bars that I buy from the store premade.

Kudos to those who can pull it off, but it isn't worth the effort to me.

Ahhh! gross! This reminds me of when I looked on the back of the ketchup bottle... HFCS and sugar were the 2 ingredients next to water and vinegar! I switched to Trader Joe's all natural kind ASAP. No added sugar! And so much better. Who knew??

My mom used to never buy Sunny D because it listed canola oil in the ingredients. Lol. There's no reason for oil in juice!! She might as well have bought as Sunny D though, because I still ended up almost 300 pounds by the time I got to high school.

And, for some reason, just two days ago, we went to the store, and she bought my little brother a jug of Sunny D. I was so confused, but let her get it anyway. I had already wrestled some other junk food for my brothers out of her hands. :)

The high fructose corn syrup thing doesn't bother me at all.

Never drank Sunny D. Even as a child over 40 years ago I never drank that stuff. I used to drink water all the time as well as milk and my mother and I used to drink a lot of hot tea. We would sit at the kitchen table drink our tea and talk. We used to be really close.

I used to love that stuff! Of course there are a lot of things I used to love that no longer appeal to me. I read the list to my 17 yo daughter and she said, "I don't even know what most of that stuff is! Why would i eat it?!"

Forget the Sunny D - I want the purple stuff (anyone who has seen Dave Chappelle's stand up knows what I'm taking about)

If the American consumer would take the time to actually look at what is in the stuff that is sold as "food" in this country, and find out what some of it is, the way we eat would change just from being grossed out. I mean seriously, have you ever seen how a chicken nugget is made?

I never drink Sunny D ... it's not even called "orange juice", it's 'orange-flavored drink'. just like how yoo-hoo isn't chocolate milk, it's chocolate-drink. All of it is disgusting!

Thank you to all who replied to this thread. I just want to make it clear that I never drink this. I remember having some when I was younger and not liking the taste of it because I prefer fresh oranges or fresh orange juice. I mainly posted it because my husband mentioned it to me after coming home from the grocery store and looking at the ing. list. Because of my healthier eating habits, the hubby looks at every label now  Love it!

I can't stand that stuff, my daugher (she had just turned 3) asked me for some one day at the store and I told her "thats not juice, its sludge" and she got all excited "Sludge, yay! Sludge!" It was too funny. I didn't drink it as a kid and remember trying it as a teenager and hating it.

Its amazing what is in food now. I just started reading labels because we have to make sure its all dairy/soy free and some of it just horrifies me. I read the ing. list on a bag of Crispers today and most of it was jibberish to me.
