Strength Training Book

I want to start strength training, which I've done in the past, but never for long. I have all these books with exercises, but when I'm exercising, it's akward to flip through books. I was thinking of photocopying a bunch of exercises, then put the ones I want to do in order in a ring binder. Then when I want to change up the set, I just rearrange/change the pages. My question is, I feel like I'm re-inventing the wheel. Is there a better/easier way to do what I'm talking about, maybe with index cards? I think full pages would be better since I need instructions as a novice. Is there a system like this out there you can buy?

You know.. I have Videod myself, then cross checked my form against YouTube.

Anyway, back to your question... I think if you keep on keeping on, you will find you don't need to check the book so often.
  • It's getting started that's hard. Hard to get in the groove by myself at home. I hate exercise videos, just want to do something on my own...

I have never tried this, but if you have a cell phone with a camera, take a picture of the pages you want, the catch is if it's a good enough screen you can see the instructions. Good Luck!

I feel the same way as you. I never thought of doing a binder, because if you do it that way you can set up one section for arms, one for legs, one for core and then one that is a mixture of all three and you can pick a day that you want to work on one of the sections or you could mix all three and have 3-5 sections or how ever many days you choose to do training.
  • That's exactly what I was thinking. I have the Jillian Michaels Winning by Losing book, and she has a suggested schedule, but the exercises are by body part, so there'd be lots of flipping. Just copy, rearrange, and exercise mindlessly. That's what I need.
