I am a lifetime dieter and have been successful several times in losing 20+ pounds. I always gain it back, only to again be angry and disappointed in myself that I have to start all over. I am once again approaching the 20 pound weight loss mark and am happy but scared. I have about 15 to 20 more to go and I will be at my target weight. Anyone else out there have the chronic diet problem but unlike me, overcome this battle? How do you change your mindset from diet to lifestyle change?? HELP!

well what are your habits when dieting and when undoing your diet?

I USED to do this yo-yo dieting business but since last year i have really changed my lifestyle. I zig-zag calories so i am allowed a few days of high calories each week for work lunches and whatever else comes up but during the week i am still at a weight loss level of calorie intake. I also love exercise and will continue it for ever. it is all about getting to your goal weight in a healthy manner and then maintaining when you get there.

My "usual" way is to be "all or nothing." I get super extreme when dieting, but then slowly return to not keeping track of what I'm eating, or have deprived myself so much that I go nutty! Or eat way too many "diet" type foods, i.e. lean cuisine, healthy choice, etc...get sick of the same thing over and over, but fear "regular" food in that I will eat too much, make the wrong choice etc. I KNOW what I should do, but just need to find the balance in there I guess.

I do NOT love exercise, and work some long hours, so finding time to fit it in, is hard for me. Right now, walking around the block is about all I do. (3/4 of a mile per block walked). If I have time, I may go around more than once. I do own a treadmill and use that sometimes, but not like I wanted to. I lack discipline for sure when it comes to exercise.
