I am having dinner at the Melting Pot tonight for a bachelorette party. They have decided to do the Cheese and Chocolate Fondue to keep the price down for everyone.

I'm allergic to apples,so I can't just eat those.

Does anyone have any advice???

Maybe take a snack yourself. Your going to celebrate your friend getting married soon so dont stress about not eating what they are eating just bring your own and enjoy yourself.

Go enjoy yourself - try to remember what you ate so you can try to log it as best as possible. If you can't log, don't worry - just workout extra hard the next day or 2. This is about living your life. There will be days like this - the trick is to not stress about it.

DON'T STRESS ABOUT IT! just eat what you want, try to log what you ate or if you cant remember do an extra work out when you wake up in the morning or just don't worry about it going over cals one day isn't going to gain all your weight back.

Well I would stick to dipping only fruit, vegetables and meats, stay away from the bread, not sure what else they have there, I haven't been there, but I've had fondue at people's parties. Yum!

we're going to vegas later this month and one thing on my list is to go to the melting pot. I've never had fondu but it sounds so good!

so, i'm just working out extra hard until then/after then. Gotta live, and enjoy!

thanks everyone!! i'm 1.3 lbs away from being out of the 200's and i'm trying to be extra extra good this week to make sure i am out of the 200's at my friday weigh in.

the melting pot does not post nutritional information on their website. i think that means that it's really bad!!!

THey serve veggies (cauliflower, broccoli, carrots) along with cubed bread for the cheese fondue. If you're allergic to apples, be sure to mention it to EVERYONE that you're sharing a cheese pot with... and then tell the waiter no apples. Otherwise, someone will dip an apple piece in the communal cheese pot. As to the chocolate pot, it's served with strawberries, bananas, rice crispie treats, brownies, pound cake and cheesecake -- no apples.

Calorically, you can look it up on MFP... it's all entered already. It's our fav birthday restaurant.

If you're super committed to not cheating and really, really don't want to treat yourself before that weigh in, then eat your proper meal before you go to the Melting Pot.
Stick with veggies and fruit only for snacking and don't dip them in a thing, no cheese, no chocolate, no oil.

The other option is to eat a massive salad before you go and have a very small sampe of what you'd like at the Melting Pot.

Then eat before you go. Drink water while you are there and stick with what you know...veggies & fruits. No dips, no sauces.

    Wooohoo...come on 199 and below!!
  • Go out and enjoy yourself with your friends!

Stressing too much about situations like this makes it more about a "diet" than a lifestyle change.

If you want to keep an eye on your portions, try spooning some of the fondue cheese onto your own plate or a small bowl. That way you can visually estimate your portion and still enjoy the dish. Eat lots of veggies! Order some on the side if you need to and tell the group that you can throw in a little extra cash towards the bill to cover it.

Most of all - keep your chin up! Busy yourself with conversation instead of food and try not to stress.

    Good luck!
