Last week (and my first week of MFP) and the food shopping bill came to...£146(!)
This week I have managed to get it down to £81.. that's for 2 adults, 2 children and the dog... PHEW!!

I was panicking that eating healthier was going to cost way over our budget but I think it will be ok. :drinker:

£81 is good going! I never manage to get out of Tescos without spending over £100. I do find eating healthy costs more but I must admit to buying pre-prepared fruit which is more expensive - I just know if it's ready to eat I'll eat it, but if I have to faff about peeling and slicing I probably won't and it'll just go off!
  • Thats what pushed my bill up last week I think because I bought lots of prepared fresh fruit. This week they had 3 for £5 on frozen berries and I got £1 frozen fruit salad too..

£81 is fantastic for a family.

It's so easy to spend about £150.

Just try to buy own brand/value on things where it doesn't matter so much. Tesco value oats, chopped tomatoes and spaghetti are great! (not together in a meal though:bigsmile: ) I would never give up my Nescafe coffee though:bigsmile:

I've started doing my shopping online, it's saved me a fortune. You have to pay a delivery charge but it's worth it because you don't get tempted by all the goodies. Also I can plan my meals for the week and check the cupboards and fridge as I go along, stops me having to nip back out for the bits I forgot (when I can easily go Through another £30/40). I use mysupermarket.com and that shows me which supermarket is cheapest for my basket and highlights any offers I've missed.
