Right Bicep pains for over 2 months will they ever go away?

I think I have injured my bicep in my left arm. Three months ago I had a tennis elbow type pain in the left arm. I carried on exercising and tried to ignore it. During that time I was using a small dumbbell to exercise with and I had not been doing any press ups.

The elbow pain subsided and was replaced with an annoying pain in my right bicep. This has progressively got worse. It catches me out with pain and loss of strength when picking things up or reaching for things like files at work.

It has affected my sleep pattern. I was waking up in pain and unable to move it. It seems more painful when I have been inactive for a while.

A month ago I went on holiday and it seemed to have subsided. Since I got back it has been so painful that I am taking ibuprofen tablets and spraying it with pain relief medicine. I have taken to wearing a support bandage at home. I tried using my Tens machine but that was too painful and made the muscle contract quite painfully.

I wonder if I had aggravated it pulling my suitcase along, I didn’t pull it far and it is on wheels.

Yesterday two people shook my hand at a business meeting; omg the pain in my arm was incredible.

Should I bite the bullet and consult the Doctor?

I can’t think what they can do to help.

Will the pain ever go away? Should I rest it, how on earth do I do that?

Sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh………..

Yes consult a doctor. I would have after a month of pain. if it is effecting you way of life like regular sleep pattern and ability to work without painful symptoms then its not worth putting it off and waiting for it to subside. it could be something serious.

Thanks for your response. I will go this week and hope they can sort me out.
I was embarrased to go because it seemed like a self inflicted injury.

There's nothing to be embarrassed about it happens more then you think. A lot of people are to stubborn to go see a doctor though and tend to make things worse.

After an hour wait in the Doctor's last evening the Doctor has prescribed prescription anti-inflammatory tablets to be taken for 10 days. She doesn't think I have torn anything so I hope it heals up soon.
She was quite impressed that I had not given up on exercising even though I was in pain and feeling low.

I really want to get back to normal soon :)

Turns out I may have a rotator cuff tear. (torn tendon in my shoulder) No wonder I've been in so much pain.
I'm seeing a specialist and booked for a scan so hopeuflly I can start getting the support I need to recover.

Looking forward to being pain free and get my arm back!
