Confused and Needing Answers!

Hey All! I'm new here and never did an introduction post because I though that since I had been in the dieting/nutrition world for so long I would never have any questions and therefore never really need to post...I was wrong! I am confused and looking for some help.
First of all, I can never meet my fat and protein needs, and I'm constantly going over my recommended carb amount. What are some healthy, EASY food options that are low in carbs but high in protein and fat?!? I'm a busy working mom, so quick and easy are always pluses!!
Also, LauraBelle25 mentioned this in another post, and I agree completely. I thought in order to lose weight we needed to cut our calorie intake. So If I'm eating 1200 and burning and extra 350, do I need to eat an extra 350 calories? Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose?? But to add to the confusion I saw someone post that when they eat the extra calories burned from exercise they lose more weight?!? Geez! I think I just confused myself even more!
One more thing, when I filled out my profile and all that, 1200 calories was what the website recommended for a 1.4 lb weight loss/week. Is 1200 a little low? Or is that around what everyone else is aiming for??
Well, enough with the questions! I'm excited to be a part of this site and to get to know and learn from new and interesting people! Have a great Wednesday!

Yes, yes, yes eat your exercise calories! There are plenty of posts about this and still some confusion, but the short answer is, "Eat your exercise calories!"
Do you like almonds or cashews? Those are high in protein and in fat but lower in carbs. Also, hommus isn't high in fat but it's low in carbs and has 3g of protein per serving.0 -

Almonds, soy nuts, peanuts, sunflower seeds, peanut butter with an apple or celery. The nuts have lots of protein and are full of the good fats. I love a handful of trail mix during the afternoon. I can keep the bag at my desk and no refrigeration required...0 -

Go to that post, from a very smart woman talking specifically about calorie intake, it should answer all of your questions:flowerforyou:
1200 is for sedentary people who don't move and have a want to lose weight quickly. You may need to edit this, seeing as you only have 23 pounds to lose, you may be doing your body a disservice.
As for easy food options high in protein and low in carbs, you're looking at eggs (a mix between egg whites and maybe a yolk or two); lunch meat rolls with low fat/fat free cheese; peanuts or any nut really; Yogurt, milk, cheese sticks, etc.; smoked salmon on wheat crackers...veggies....anything that isn't "prepackaged" and in the "snack" isle at your local store. The rule of thumb is to travel the outter isles, because those tend to be your fresh foods, your dairy, your meats.
Hope that helps!0 -
Thank you all for the advice! I'm actually looking forward to eating some peanutbutter...I've been cutting it out of my diet for so long!!
And Fab140, thank for the link! It was VERY helpful!0 -
