Apprehension and Exercise

I was having such a great day and was so pleased with my exercise efforts. I went to the Y and was able to swim / water jog in the pool for 30 minutes. This was my first time swimming this year, and I am really just starting to exercise. I was a little winded, but not too bad really.
Later when I got home and was getting ready to get cleaned up, I went into an SVT (very rapid heartbeat, near fainting) episode. I had SVT last Spring and was hospitalized overnight so I knew what it was, but it's still scary. The SVT wouldn't convert so I finally had to call 911. The IV meds converted me quickly and went from 170 beats to 93 and eventually back down to the 60-65 range. Ended up having to stay overnight in the hospital again, and seeing my cardiologist on Wednesday this week.
My apprehension comes from several people (EMT, nurses, nurse practitioner, and MD) telling me that my swimming likely triggered the SVT. Now I'm scared to even move quickly! I know it will all be okay, and I know the SVT isn't life-threatening, but I'm still scared! I'll be glad when I get to see the cardiologist on Wednesday!! It's likely I'll have to have an ablation, but then this will be fixed for good.
It's frustrating to be working hard on getting healthy and then have this kind of stumbling block!

WOW! How scary! I have no idea about SVT or anything like it. Maybe your doctors can recommend some kind of safe exercise for you.... or a way to keep everything under control. I'm wondering if light weight lifeting/toning might be the way for you to exercise without totally stressing your body out.................0

I have the same problem. I stopped exercising and just walk a little. It is not worth it to me.
I have lost all the weight I wanted by just watching what I eat.0 -
That is very discouraging for you. I'm glad the doctors can find a "fix" for your problem - although it isn't fun to go through. Progress may be slower for you but you can still have progress. Every pound you lose is still better for you and will reward you with increased health benefits. Good luck to you! You can do it!0

until you get your heart checked i would just stick you strength training. hit the floor do some leg lifts and crunches at a steady slow pace. You can lose weight without even busting a sweat. I have.0
