Burning calories during Zumba?

Hi all, I am doing Zumba on the Wii (i used to attend an actual class at my gym but we can't afford our payment anymore), anyways, I went to track the Zumba workout under cardio exercise but it wasn't listed at all (i even looked under dance). So, how many calories should I say i burned from that? I know this will vary from person to person (bc of weight differences and all) but Id like a general idea since this is something i plan on doing often. Thanks!

Hi.
I use my HRM when I do it and then use an online calculator to correct for VO2max (wow, what a mouthful!). Anyway, at my weight and height (150 and 5'4") and really going at it, I burn 600 calories in an hour.
Hope that helps0 -
try dancing, general or aerobic exercise. i don't know why zumba isn't a saved exercise in there! you could check zumba.com, put in your zip code, and find a class that's cheap near you. i pay $25 a month for a once a week class where i am.0

Check out this web site. It lists many different activities and they base it on the time you do it and your weight. I wear a heart rate monitor and this seems to be a bit higher but gives you a good idea. (zumba is under dancing/zumba. good luck!!0

Thanks everyone!
MFP should def. make Zumba a cardio activity! Especially since it's so popular!0 -
I'm going through the very same thing. I've just been logging it as aerobics, general. I may have been off, but at least I'm logging something. lol0

I log zumba under dancing/aerobic/modern.....wish mfp already had zumba in the database. Hope this helps :happy:0
