Food database

Is anyone else finding the calories of foods entered by other people way off? I saw one one entry for chicken 4oz is 146 calories! I know chicken is 46 calories per oz because I eat it all the time. Does anyone know how I can do a food search that will not give other member's entries?

Hmm, stuff like chicken seem to be an varied as the individual who eats it. I can buy chicken from 4 different places and there's a vast difference in the nutritional content. I'm dumbfounded when I buy it fresh from the meat shop- then I guesstimate high.0

Nope, that's just how the database is. Just add your own with the right calories.
The database is mostly user built so it's full of wrong entries.
It's especially annoying when you look for one thing and all you can find is people's meals that have everything they ate and not just one thing (e.g. burger, fries & a coke)0 -
Put in your own foods and save it. Go to the Food tab.. click on My Foods. From there you can enter the info and when you save don't make it available to the database (if you want). Then after you click on add a food to your meal, click on the My Foods tab by the Recent tab. Hope this helps!0

No dont just add a new one! Thats what generates this issue in the first place!!
There are options to report when something is wrong of confirm when it is correct, if its wrong report it! Typically the ones that are wrong have 0 confirmations. Personally I think they should be deleted if they dont get any confirmations in a week. Then move on to find the one that is correct and confirm it!
Dont add to an already bad issue0 -
You have to be careful when you add a food. If it doesn't seem right to me I look it up online and edit it in the database.0

when I enter my own recipe , I don't share it with the community....ie... whose going to eat my stuff pepper soup besides me ?? I save any food that I want with my proper numbers in my food catagory, then I don't have to constantly search through the data base. Save it as a meal in your information and you will find it so much easier to enter things. I eat a lot hard boiled eggs, or bananas... how many eggs are there really...and different sized bananas ? You'll save yourself a lot of aggravation if you do that.
Good luck :flowerforyou:0 -
I've found a few that have confirmations that are wrong.
What's really annoying is when you type milk the very first thing that pops up is coffee and you have to scroll down loads to actually get milk on it's own.0 -
Iv found that if i find a food in the database that seems wrong i will make my version and then put (UK) or something in the food title... Or generic... Or i just wont make the food public.. So that i know it's the right one.
Sometimes the calories are wrong just because it is from a different country with different food laws and they haven't marked it up, etc....0
