I had a hysterectomy 7 years ago, with my ovaries taken out, i have gained 30-40 lbs. i have been the same weight for 7 years, i don't gain, but i also can't go down..I am stuck.
I have dieted, exercised, cut calories, i am still stuck. I work as a psw, walking, lifting for the 8 hour shift, it burns lots of calories, i do not over eat at work, could just have a sandwich or fruit.
I am very discouraged that i cannot make the scale go down, and i appreciate any and all tips for a woman in menopause to lose some weight. I am 46 and i also know as you age your metabolism slows down, but the hysterectomy has made it even harder.

I'm 45, but don't have your issues. The first thing that came to my mind is that you should talk to your doctor. If you are trying all of those things, but are unable to lose any weight (which seems odd), he or she might be able to offer some things to help you out. Even if it's just a referral to a nutritionist.0

hello, and thanks, i have spoke to my old doctor and he gave me a free pass to weight watchers. Although i did not join.
Then i moved and found a new doctor, he gave me Canada's food guide..
I hung onto all my clothes for 7 years in hopes to fit back into them. Finally last month i gave them all away.
I found this site and figured i would give it another shot. I will count my calories for a longer period this time. I am hoping for some good news with this attempt.
I have 5 children, my whole life i could exercise off baby weight in one month.
Until the complete hysterectomy.
There HAS to be a way to get rid of some of this weight.0 -
I've been there, done that and bought the t-shirt. Unfortunately women that have a hysterectomy often have weight gain. I had one 12 years ago , hot flashes sometimes comes with it . Which have cause me to be on hormones which proves the manfacture right (can cause weight gain). The regular walking I've done on the job my body seemed to get use to and didn't help anymore.I recommend you do at least 30 minutes of something else. But with age my motabilism has slowed down and loosing weight and keeping it off gets a lots harder. Not to mention being moody and eating with mood swings the wrong thing. We just have to be determine and hang in there. If its worth having it worth working for. If it was easy there would be no need for MFP and no obese people. Hang in there we will encourge each other and do it together.0
